Hard For Me, Best For Her

The best home possible presented itself for Mary Jane. I was contacted by a family in PA that has a 100 acre meat goat farm. They were only keeping an ear out for a 2nd Border Collie, but not really looking. The home they have sounds just absolutely ideal for Mary. A farmhand/farmdog/pet. :-) Mary sounds perfect for their needs, and they seem perfect for Mary. They need a dog with a good temperament as they often have visitors, including the woman's 80 year old father who enjoys spoiling the dogs with treats. Perfect for Mary- she adores people. She will be perfect for meat goats and has more than enough talent and training to meet their farmhand needs. The woman has gotten only limited guidance with their first Border Collie, but it has been from some of the best east coast handler/trainers. Their first Border Collie (who is 5) they bought as a puppy from a very talented handler/true rancher in SD that breeds very seldom. They adore the dog. The breeder returned my email saying she would sell this family another dog in a heart beat. :-) I emailed back and forth to the woman in PA several times and then spoke to her twice on the phone. My gut says this is 100% the right choice. It's a hard one, but it's truly what's best for Mary. She deserves to be with someone who will appreciate her for all the fabulous things that she is- which are numerous!! The phrase "Bitter-Sweet" has never seemed so fitting. I will not be dry eyed during our good-bye....
